_ — DR ARTHUR LIONEL SMITH. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, April 13. The death is announced of Dr Arthur Lionel Smith, Master of Balliol.—A. and N.Z. Cable. Dr Smith, who was 74 years of age, had been Master of Balliol since 1916, having previously been Jowett Fellow and Tutor and Dean. He occupied an eminent position as a historian, in which subject bo acted as examiner for a number of the leading universities in the United Kingdom. Apart from his activities as a tutor and an examiner he was respon eible for a number of authoritative publi cations on historical subjects. tJ . SIR WALTER MEANS. LONDON, April 14.
