Mi- P. G. Dick returned from Christchurch by the first express on Saturday. '.Mr S. B. Macdonald, who has been on a V'lit. to Invercargill, returned to Dunedin by the first exoross on Saturday. 'Mr Charles ' Haines, of Wellington, is at present on a visit to Dunedin. Mr T. K. Sidey. M.P.. returned from Now Plymouth liy the express from Christehurch on Saturday afternoon. His Honor Mr Justice Him, accompanied by his associate (Mr K. f Aekins) will arrive in Dunedin by the first express from the north on Thursday. Mr Hector George, manager of the ship chandlery department of John Burns and Go., aged 60, died of heart failure on board a yacht (reports an Auckland Press Association telegram). Inspector E. Murray, who is in charge of the New Plymouth police district, arrived in Dunedin by the Christchurch express train on Saturday afternoon. Messrs T, H. Russell and W. J. Bardsley, chairman and secretary respectively of the Otago Harbour Board, were passengers from the north by the express train on Saturday afternoon. Messrs 11. 11. S. White, H. Harris, and G. Nelson, who have lieen attending the annual conference of delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union at Wellington, returned to Dunedin by the express train from Christchurch on Saturday afternoon. An Auckland Press Association message reports the death of Mr William Hanson, aged 99. The deceased arrived from Sunderland 64- years ago,' and was a shipbuilder at Coromandel and Auckland. Ho leaves a widow, 16 grandchildren, 32 groat-grand-childron, and a son-in-law aged 91. Mr E. H. M’Kenzie (Wairarapa) was omitted from the list of those to the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. Ho was a member last year and was ro-electcd. Mr E. Ericson,' formerly of the clerical staff of the Balclutha railway station, was, on the occasion of his promotion to tho position of relieving officer at Dunedin, presented by his friends with a silver cigarette ease and a leather wallet. The position at Balclutha will bo filled by Mr G. Ihompson, formerly of Kurow. Among those who arrived at Auckland by the Mnhcno last week were Lord Dun--1 oath, second 80-ron of Londonderry, Lady Dunleath, their son, Captain Mulnolland, A.D.C. to tho Governor-General of Australia, and Lady Allen Lambnrf. It is tho intention of the party to visit Rotorua. Ixird and Lady Dunleath will leave Wellington on April 29 for San Francisco, and Captain Mullioliand will return to Melbourne.
