MR SINCLAIR CITED FOR CONTEMPT. TEST ACTION CERTAIN. * Praw Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, March 31. (Received April 1, at 7.20 p.m.) A Federal grand jury at the instance of tho Oil Committee indicted Mr .Sinclair for contempt on the ground of the latter's refusal to testify. Mr Sinclair contends that no Congressional investigating committee has authority to compel a witness to divulge his private atfairs. This question has never been decided by the courts, and Mr Sinclair expressed his determination to carry the case to the highest tribunal in order to determine the extent of such a committee’s powers.—A. and N.Z. Cable. CORRUPTION AMONG DENTISTS. GROSS FRAUDS PERPETRATED. NEW YORK, March 31. (Received April 1, at 8 p.m.) The record of American frauds and scandals was augmented to-day with the indictment of seven dentists charged with collecting huge sums from the Government without doing the requisite work for service mdn. The Federal District Attorney proved that sums aggregating 200,000 dollars a month had been paid to dentists operating in tho States of New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, who, under the ex-service-men's rehabilitation laws, filed claims for dental work upon war veterans without actually doing a tithe of the work. In other cases brass fillings were used instead of gold and inferior metals and bridgework were used, resulting in serious injuries. One dent'st received 22,000 dollars in one month, although he did less than 100 dollars worth of work. Wholesale indictments are further promised.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
