PASSING OF THE HORSE
THE PROHIBITION RESISTED. LONDON, March 16. Horses will not leave London streets without a fight. ’The National Farmers' Union is already up in arms, combating the suggestion to fix a date after which horses would be prohibited on the streets of London. The union asserts that it is universally recognised that tho heavy horse van is superior to the' motor van for shortdistance traffic. It has not been proved that the horse is responsible for traffic congestion. That, says tho union, is a fallacy nourished by the motor trade. The horse's battle will be fought by thousands of traders on the grounds of cheapness.
