Messrs Driver, Maclean and Co. report having sold the Matakanui station in Manuherikia Valley, comprising 80,000 acres, with 15,944 sheep, 400 head of cattle, horses, and working bullocks, for the sum °* L 39.250. The purchasers were Messrs Glassford Brothers, of New South Wales. We understand that Thomas Cunningham, one of the men recently convicted of alicking-up and robbing Mr Skinner, the manager of the branch of the Bank of New Zealand at Clyde, Dunstan, has confessed that be was engaged in that outrage; and that he assorts that his fellow-convict, Parker alias Murphy, is altogether innocent of the affair, not having been present, the second man engaged being altogether a different person. It may be remembered, that Cunningham was sentenced to six years penal servitude, while Parker, against whom previous convictions were recorded, was sentenced to ten years. Cunningham has done more than confess —he has indicated the spot at which the nearly £BOO in notes taken from Mr Skinner will bo found, and also that at which the revolver is planted. Whether he has done this truthfully, as is fully believed to be the case, we shall learn in a few days. ...
