(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 29. A valuable business block at the comer of Queen street and Vulcan lane was sold to the City Council for £60,000. The purchase was made in furtherance of the city schema to widen Vulcan lane from 16ft to 32ft. The price works out at £IOOO a foot, NEW PLYMOUTH, March 29. The Customs revenue for the port of New Plymouth for the 12 months is £96,987, compared with £69,998 for the previous year. BLENHEIM, March 29. The Blenheim branch of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association passed a resolution protesting against the burden of taxation by the imposition of two unjustified cuts in salaries, amounting to £25 per annum, and as the Government had thought fit to revert to the 1914 postal and telegraph rates, etc., it should also place salaries on i a grade equal in purchasing value io that I received in 1914.
