MY LADY’S DRESS
THE WINTER FASHIONS. LONDON, March 20. Spring fashions are reviving bright colours and removing the standardisation of women’s winter clothes. The winter fashion compelled women to dress alike, and it was almost impossible to distinguish one from another in their small, black cloche hats masking the eyes, long dark coats with grey lur collars, and flesh-coloured stockings. Alfred Leete, the artist, says that the fashionable woman was like a walking black vase, possessing the lifeless simplicity of a chrysalis, which, he w r as glad to know, would soon burst into brilliant butterfly colours. Designers admit the monotony of the winter costume, but assert that they will retain its graceful line.
