GIRL SHOT DEAD
A TRAGIC INFATUATION. YOUTH’S INSANE JEALOUSY Pro* Araociation— By Telegraph—Copyififfit ADELAIDE, March 18. A mvstcrious tragedy is reported, a girl named" Hilda Jones, 16 years of age, being shot dead yesterday afternoon in a city office, where she was employed. A youth named Herbert Neale, aged 19, with whom Miss Jones had been keeping company, was found outside the office in a fainting condition with a rifle alongside him containing four live and one discharged cartridges. Neale was removed to the hospital. Neale was later charged -with the murder of Miss Jones, 'flic police allege that ho made a statement that he was infatuated with Miss Jones. He became madly jealous and afraid that someone also would get her, and he brought a rifle to work that morning to do the shooting. A ('(irk who worked with Miss Jones said that during the luncheon hour she heard a report and a fall. She saw Miss Jones lying on the floor, and .Neale holding a smoking rifle. When the police arrived Neale, pointed the rifle at them, but they rushed in just in time to catch him as he fainted.
