MUNICH TREASON TRIAL
WHITEWASHING PROCESS. ——— 1 FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE PREVAILS. Pra« Aieociation— By Telegraph—Copyriglu BERLIN, February 27. When the court which is trying Ludendorff and others resumed no announcement was made with regard to the admission of the public. A noticeable feature is the friendly atmosphere in which the proceedings are being None of the accused appears to take the affair very seriously. The president- of the court made a statement sympathetically stressing Herr Hitler’s war career. A fall of snow in the morning sufficed to keep the people away from the vicinity of the courthouse. The citizens of Munich are little interested in the trial, because it is already clear that the case will provide no sensations; nor will it have any serious consequences to Von Ludendorff or Hitler—a fact of which they are probably aware. Cine of the accused, Dr Weber, president of the Nationalist Oberland Bund, in a statement to-day explaining the aims of the bund (which chiefly are to tear up the Versailles Treaty and create a new German Fatherland), gave an account of his conversations with Dr Von Kalir, General Von Lossow (chief of the Bavarian police), and Herr Von Seisser, showing that all three appiloved of the revolt. Hen- Hitler, in a-Tong statement to the Munich Court, attributed his action to patriotic motives. He denounced the conduct of Dr Von Kahr and General Von Lossow, who joined the movement under duress, and immediately suppressed it when thev regained freedom of action. Reuter.
