A WRIT FOR SMITH
ALLEGATION OF SLANDER. LONDON, February 14. Inman, the billiards player, has issue* a writ alleging slander in respect o Smith’s comments on his collapse front vertigo. The Weekly Despatch said that Smith believed that Inman’s vertigo, which caused an interruption in his match'with the champion, was due to the fact that he was 2000 behind on the fourth day of the match after receiving 1500. _ “I have not words," Inman declared, “with which to express my contempt for Smith’s attitude, A doctor’s certificate was fmnecessary, considering that I collapsed in public.”
