(Received Feb. 21, at 9.35 p.m.) In the House of -Commons a private members motion to provide State pensions for widows with children or mothers whose family bread-winners were incapacitated drew a sympathetic reply from Mr Philip Snowden (Chancellor of the Exchequer), who, however, said he was at present unable to provide the necessary £20,000,000 a year on account of other schemes of social reform to which the Government was committed He declared that if he were given tiraj to overhaul the national finances this would be one of the first measures to which he would apply the resources which would then become available. The motion was agreed to amid cheers. — Reuter.
