A DISASTROUS FIRE
BLAZE IN SYDNEY SUBURB. Pr«» Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, January 14. (Received January 15, at 0.36 a.m.) A fire occurred at Marcus Clark’s .Newtown branch. Furniture, drapery and the extensive premises were destroyed. The damage is estimated at £BO,OOO. EXTENT OF DAMAGE UNCERTAIN. SYDNEY, January 14. (Received Jan. 15, at 1.20 a.m.) There are conflicting reports regarding the extent of the damage. Fifteen shops and other premises adjacent to Clark’s were partially destroyed, bringing the approximate damage considerably higher than was previously estimated.
