CRIMINAL LIBEL CHARGE

LADY BYRNE’S HONOUR LONDON, January 1. Thomas Baigent has been remanded at Jersey oh a charge of criminally libelling the wife of Sit William Byrne, formerly chairman of the Board of Control of the Home Office, by declaring that she was a bigamist. Baigent was further charged with stealing a letter emanating from the Catholic authorities, cm which ho based a statement that Lady Byrne gave evidence, and was involved in a divorce in 1893, and afterwards married Mr Donald MaoLennan, a pioneer exporter of Scottish stock, who died prior to her last marriage.
