THE DEFINITE ARTICLE. One of the first rules in grammar wo learn as children is the use of the definite article. The word “The” is used to distin<niish what one wants from something indefinite. Hence a company adopts the word “The’ as part of its title to show th..t it has a distinct object in view. The Trustees, Executors. and Agency Company of New Zealand (Ltd.) is a case in point. The word “The” distinguishes it from all other Trustee Companies, and signifies it is The Trustees, Executors, and Agency Company. It is the oldest Executor and Trustee Company in New Zealand.
