MANY “REMBRANDTS " CONDEMNED.
NOT ONE IN AMERICA Only 35 out of 800 or 1000 paintings attributed to Rembrandt are genuine, and not one of the 35 is in the American gallery, according to the deductions of Mr John, Vandyke, Professor of Art and Archeology at Rutgers College, New York. Professor Vandyke, after quiet investigation, extending over a period of 40 years, of the paintings supposed to come from the brush of Rembrandt, publishes these findings in the volume “ Rembrandt and His School" (Charles Scribner and Sons). He assails the Rembrandt tradition, as a huge mistake, which has misled art lovers and critics for more than a century.
