news runners and their change. to the editor. Sir, —Kindly grant me space to reply to a local which appeared in this morning’s Daily Times .suggesting that the boys who sell the evening paper are not supplied with the necessary change. Each hoy, before leaving ttie office, is given H halfpennies. Perhaps the first customer he meets may offer him sixpence or a shilling, and that makes a big hole in hia change. Then, probably, a number of others may follow, each with two pennies. Through no fault of nis, the lad would very soon have no halfpennies left. I wonder if the boy is expected to carry a nashbox to provide change for all and sundry. Be that as it may, if your generous complainant will call at the publishing room of the Evening Star about -1 o’clock I will refund him the four halfpennies lie feels so sore about,—l am, etc., Agent in Charge of Boys.
O’Flanagnn : “And are yo going to leave this pie o’ dirt here all niplit?” O’Flabevty: “Bogorra, phwat else will Oi do wi' it, munT' O’Flanagan; “Did a bole and shovel it iu.”
