AN AUDACIOUS THEFT.

ELDERLY MAN ROBBED. MONEY TAKEN FROM POST OFFICE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 10. An audacious theft was perpetrated at the Post Office at 3 o.m. yesterday, Henry Lovell, an elderly man, losing £l4l 12s 4d. Ho had withdrawn this amount from his account .in the Savings Bank, and had taken notes and coin to the desk to count. Recollecting that he had left the cover of his book at another desk, he left the money and went to get it. The money had disappeared when he returned. The numbers of the notes are known.
