GREEN ISLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the Green Island Borough Council, held last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr T. Tompkins) and Crs J. L. Miller, E. J. Reeve, C. Davies, C. Crimp, F. Eason, D. Stewart, and H. Christie. Accounts amounting to £539 2s 2d were passed for payment. Mr A Lee Smith wrote drawing tlie council’s attention to the fact that owing to the fences at Miller Park not being sheep-proof the sheep grazing there were becoming it nuisance to adjoining property owners. —The matter was referred to the Reserves Committee. The engineer’s report stated that during the month the outdoor staff had been engaged on the general maintenance work of the borough, which embraced the clearing up of footpaths and water-tables, attention to street lighting and water supply, and cemetery work, Torquay street had been metalled, and 10 trucks of metal used on the work. Crossings had been put in for Mr Passmore, Muir street, and for Mr Stewart. Concord. The cemetery plots under the care of the council had again been attended to, and the grass on the paths cut. In the water department a service had been laid tii the Chinese market gardens on the Brighton road, meters repaired, and 'fire plugs cleaned up.—The report was adopted.
