Squadron-leader M Laren will be the navigator. Flying Officer PrenderLeith the pilot, and Sergeant Andrews the mechanic. Thev will use a speciallydesigned Vickers-Viking amphibian machine, fitted with a 450 horse-power Napier-Lion engine. The aeroplane will have a speed of 110 miles an hour, with a range of 1700 miles. Full advantage will be taken of the organisations established for the late Sir Ross Smith's attempt. The project is not being financed by the Air Ministry, but use will be made of the Air Force stations along 21,500 miles of the route, which is from west to east, across France, Mesopotamia, India, China, Japan, Kamscbatka, the Aleutian Islands, Canada, and St. John. If the conditions are favourable the Atlantic will be crossed in a single flight. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
