A PERMANENT RECORD. CUP FOR OTAGO’S REPRESENTATIVE A handsome silver cup, presented by Mr C. W. Sundstrum as a permanent record of Otago’s representative 14-footers in the Sanders Cup contests, was handed to Mr F. B. Francis and the crew of the June at last evening’s meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association. This is the first occasion upon which the cup has been presented, and will be held by the skipper of June for the next 12 months. The cup ■will be engraved with the name of the boat and crew which represents Otago each year. , , . ~ Mr H. E. Moller (chairman), in making the presentation, said the crew of June) ■were looked upon by the people of Otago as the pick of yachtsmen. He asked that the gear and everything in connection with the boat be kept in first-class order. They were going to meet the pick of the yachtsmen in New Zealand, but the association had every confidence that the Otago men would do their best. The speaker referred in eulogistic terms to Mr Francis, and said.he was a fine sport and the luckiest man in Otago. In referring to-Mr G. Kellett, the speaker #aid he had been chosen because of the sterling manner in which he had sailed Winifred, and further that he was the finest yachtsman in Otago. Ho 'urged them to Stick together, to do their best, and the association as.a .body of sports would thank them whether they" brought the cup back or not. Mr Francis, in reply, thanked the association for its good wishes, and said , the crew deserved all the kudos, not himself. If thev did not win it would he the fault of the boat—the crew were out to win.
