PROM THE (©fagii JatJg M Invent'am viam crwt faciam” DECEMBER 18. 1863. GOLD STATISTICS. The quantity of goid exported from the Province of Otago miring the current year to this date is 538,069 oz. The quantity previously exported is as follows: oz. 1861 187,695 1868 397,602 585,297 Making a grand total since the discovery of the gold fields of 1,143,366 oz. Yesterday, being a fast day of the Presbyterian Church, all the Provincial Government offices and the banks were closed; and the strict observance of the day as a holiday by our merchants could not be better proved than by the fact that, although the Custom House, as a General Government establishment, was open, not a single entry, clearance, or other bit of business was transacted.
