ABSURD AND OFFENSIVE
BISHOP’S VIEW OF “AMEN.” LONDON, December 3. The Bishop of Manchester has declared that the singing of “Amen’’ is a sheer absurdity and an offensive redundance. Other'clerics disagree. They describe “Amen” as the congregation’s sign that they agree with what has preceded. 'lnstead of abolishing “Amen” they assert ;fc would be better to abolish many doggerel hymns.
