SCHOOL BREAK-UPS.

ST. PHILOMENA’S COLLEGE. Tlio year’s studies at St. Bhilomtma’s College. South Dunedin, terminated very happily on Thursday afternoon, when the annual distribution of prizes took place in the school hall. An introductory chorus was beautifully renders*:! by the college choir, after which the Rev. Father Delaney read the annual report and complimented the students on the good work of the year. Ho gave some helpful advice for their guidance during tire vacation, and also for their future lives. After the prizes had been presented to the successful students all adjourned to the lawn, whore afternoon tea was served.

Port Chalmers District High School, took place in the Salvation Army Hall on Friday night. The Rev. W. M. Grant presided, and spoke of the work of the past year. He said the roll number was 91. The teachers wore the Rev. J. M. Simpson and himself, assisted bi-monthly bv the Rev. C. B. Jordan and Adjutant Hanford. The classes wore originally commenced by the Rev. A. Whyte, and had been continued for 15 years. Ho stressed their great importance in the true education of (he young, and asked for the heartiest interest- and support of the parents in this labour of love. The Rev. J. M. Simpson gave a happy and interesting address on “Push and Pull.” An address was also given by the Rev. O. B. Jordan. The rector of the school (Mr G. F. Booth) spoke in hearty appreciation of the work of the ministers, and commended it to the parents. The scholars sang a number of hymns, and repeated some of the Psalms. The prizes were handed to the scholars by Mrs Simpson. The accompaniments were played by Miss Isa M'Alpine, one of the scholars.
