AVERTING A CRISIS. (From Our Own Copjßespondent.) SYDNEY, November 29. Disgruntled politicians who had gone round like roaring lions growling and snarling at Sir George Fuller and his Government, were as tame as little lambs the othei day when it came to the test, and wne.. there was the immediate prospect of dissolution and another ejection, always distastefu. to politicians. In the crisis, arising out oi the vote against tho Government on the consideration of the Valuer-General’s estimates, there appeared to bo ail tho elements of a first-class political situation, but tho Government supporters, who had assisted to defeat Die Ministry on a snap vote, crosses the floor when the real test came, and oo all is well once more. Sir George Fuller has soothed his refactory supporters, by a promise to investigate thoroughly the Valuer-General’s Department, in order to ascertain whether or not injustice has been done by it. Ending as it has done, the .vholo thing has been a bit oi a joke in the public eye. Sir George Fuller is not very .nippy all the same. On one side he findche Progressives, an uncertain quantity, ano on the other disgruntled Nationalists, and across the floor of the xlouse is the Labour opposition. He is between Scylla ana GJrarybdis. The Ministerial victory is a good thing for Labour, which, in its present divided state, and in view of recent ballot box disclosures and allegations, would he courting defeat at an election. Until Labour settles its differences, and cleanses itself of its extremist clement, it is likely to be on the "outer.”
