To be fashionable nowadays, neckwear | must be fussy and fluffy, and its main pur- ■ pose in life must be to soften the face of J the wearer and relievo the severe lino of ; the no-collar dross. Crepe georgette, printed ! nmon" do soic, silver or gold lace, or the ; charming silk muslin known as “lingerie 1 muslin’’ are the materials mostly chosen I for this use. As well as collars, a com- | bination of dainty vest and collar is also I much worn I 'me Pope’s collar, as the deep bertha i form of collar is called, is still being worn ; a good deal; pleated, frilled, or left plain, i it makes a good finish to a plain dress, j and does not need cliffs to match. ! The “ham frill” collar, with cuffs made : along the same lines, is being shown on a number of the autumn froe.ks. This kind ; of collar is made cither of a plain or a | printed ninon de sole or crepe georgette, it is finely pleated, and held in place down the middle by a cute little ribbon band. 'lho narrow and double types of Peter , fan collars arc being worn perhaps more than any other kinds. They are being made up in all sorts of silk and muslin materials. . , , , . , , , ■ The high collar with the two outstretched wing ends, commonly called the “aeroplane collar,” is being sold in all the big shops j as an extra collar for fixing on to a dress. , Jabots, made of very fine silk lace or | crepe georgette, are being worn with smart ] tailored suits.
