Messrs Murray, Roberta, and Co. are in receipt of a cablegram from their London agents, dated December 5, reading as follows : The market continues firm. Greasy merino wool, suitable for America, par to 5 per cent, advance. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date December 5: As compared with last wool sales’s closing rates prices are higher about 5 per cent, for scoured and greasy merino, fine greasy crossbred, fine crossbred slipe, and fine scoured crossbred; higher 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, for medium and coarse greasy crossbred, medium and coarse crossbred slipe, and medium and coarse scoured crossbred. The market is strong, at an. advance. PROPERTY SALE. Messrs Park, Reynolds (Ltd.) offered for sale by public auction yesterday an allotment containing 13.2 poles, having a frontage of 45ft to the Octagon and a depth of 60ft. The property, which was subject to a lease to the Tablet Company, was sold at £2350 to Mr J. A. Haggitt (as agent). Messrs ,Tohn Reid and Sons (Ltd.) offered at auction last evening several sections in the Calton Hill Estate. The attendance was not a very numerous one, and the bidding was not brisk. The sections were all in block V, Calton Hill. Section 19 was started at £3O, and rose quickly to £7l, at which price it was disposed of. The section had a frontage to Sidey street and Bisolaw street. Section 34 was also started at £3O, and knocked down at £SO. Section 33 was next offered and passed in. Sections 8 and 40 were also passed in.- These were all building sections. Section 41, containing about one and three-quo .acres, and having a frontage to Cuba street and Riselaw street, was passed in, the best bid not reaching expectations. The last section offered was section 42, containing approximately two acres and three-quarters, for which there was no offer. After the sale some of the land was disposed of at a satisfactory price.
THE TALLOW MARKET. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cablegram from their head office, dated London, December 5: At the tallow sales 1530 casks were offered and 700 casks sold. For good descriptions bnyei'S are holding off; low and inferior descriptions are 6d per cwt higher.
OTAGO MUTUAL STARR-BOWKETT. A meeting of members of the Otago Mutual Starr-Bowkctt Society was held last evening at the secretary's office (Mr H. F. M. Mercer) for the purpose of disposing of £SOO by way of sale-loan. This loan realised £35 per £IOO, scoured by two members. Mr W. -tt. Adams (chairman of directors) presided. it was intimated that the share list in No. 3 group was still open, and extra shares were being taken up. It. is expected that a further dividend of £1 per share (making £11) in the No. 1 group will be paid out before the end of the year.

(Received Deo. 6, at 8.15 p.m.) At the wool sales there was a goocl selection of crossbreds and a small offering of merinos. All prices were very firm, with a_ continued hardening tendency. LONDON TALLOW MARKET. Pteaa Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 6. (Received Dec. 6, at 10.15 p.m.) At the tallow, sales 1378 casks were offered and 715 wero sold. Good to fine wae unchanged and most was withdrawn. Low sorts advanced 6d.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
