A TRAVEL PICTURE.
There was a full house at both the afternoon and evening sessions at the Grand Theatre yesterday, when the travel picture “Round the World in 80 Minutes” was screened. The picture, which is a New Zealand production, is described as the greatest travel picture ever attempted, and the description is certainly not exaggerated. Even Jules Verne, that author with such a vivid imagination, when he wrote his book entitled “Round the World in 80 Days,” probably had no idea that with the advancement of lime it would be possible to travel 25,000 odd miles in 80 minutes. This seemingly impossible feat, however, has in a manner of speaking been accomplished by the wonderful art of the motion picture. The traveller begins his journey at Wellington, and after a 30.000milo world’s tour concludes with a flight over Auckland. The picture is interesting and instructive from beginning to end, and has a fine educational value. There are many New Zealanders who will never have an opportunity of visiting other countries, be the desire ever so strong, but by paying a visit to the Grand Theatre they can, in the space of an hour or so, see in as realistic a manner ns is possible sights m many cities of the world thousands of miles away from their native country.
