GREAT MOTOR SHOW

A WONDERFUL DISPLAY

MANY NEW FEATURES,

LONDON, November 4,

Three miles of motor cars, valued at £1,000,G00, are exhibited at the world’s largest motor show, which has Deen opened at Olympia. Critics are gathered from all parts of the world to examine the products of an industry now engaging 14,000 firms. The principal features are reductions in the prices of small cars by £25 to £125, four-wheel brakes on the majority of the larger cars, largely increased equipment, many time and labour-saving devices for owner-drivers, and the introduction of low-pressure, balloon-type tyres designed for more comfortable riding. There is a wonderful display of luxurious little saloon cars on light-car chassis, while as the result of the season’s camping boom many enterprising firms are exhibiting caravans for towing behind touring cars. One contains a kitchen and a number of wardrobes, with full-length mirrors for women passengers. Increased knowledge of metallurgy has enabled a leading maker to lighten the 40 h.p. chassis.

The show marks the end of three years of depression. There are indications of an enormous demaud for a 14 h.p. family type of car. * The day’s sales by one northern firm alone amounted to £500,000.
