COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURE.
PROPOSED POSTAL SOCIETY. Mr E. F, Duthie, the Otago representative on the Executive Council, submits the following report of a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Council of Agricultm'e held in Christchurch during Show Week:—The meeting dealt with various replies received to resolutions passed by the Agricultural Conference from Ministers and public officials. These were noted, and tho secretary was instructed to advise the different associations accordingly. In many instances th© remits passed have simply been acknowledged, and these were left in the hands' of the executive to take further action. The' question of forming a Poyal Agricultural Society was fully considered. Application has already been made to the proper authorities for permission (p use the term “Royal.” and as soon as "that has been obtained application will be made to the Government to issue an Order-in-Coun-cil establishing the proposed Royal Society. When, these matters have been satisfactorily settled a meeting of all those who have consented to become members will be called to form the society, elect president and officers, adopt rules and regulations governing the society’s operations, and probably appoint an executive to deal with urgent matters. It has been agreed that when the Royal Society is. established it will hold annua] shows alternatively in the North and South Islands. The first show will be held at Palmerston North provider] that satisfactory arrangements can be made with the Manawatu.and West Coast A. and P. Association, and the second show will be held at Christchurch provided that similar arrangements can be made with the Canterbury A. and P. Association. After bhat date it will be ouite open to any association in the North Island to apply to the council for the privilege of holding the third annual show, and all such applications will receive full consideration from the New Zeaand Council of Agriculture, and the same conditions will apply when the ‘ time arrives for bolding the show in the South Island.
