Dr Benson and Professor Rawson were passengers by the north express yesterday for Wellington, and will sail by the Ulimaroa for Sydney to-day. Mr P. Selig, of Christchurch, is visiting Dunedin at the present time. Mr J. B. Waters left by the express yesterday for Auckland, and will attend the conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. ’ „ Mr D. Scott and Mrs Scott, of Dunedin, who have been on a holiday visit to the Old Country, arrived by yesterday evening’s train from Christchurch. The Rev. J. C. Jamieson, of Waitati, has received cable advice that he has been appointed" Assistant Director of Youth Work under the Presbyterian Church of Victoria. He will proceed to Melbourne to take up his new work on February 1 next. Mr R. J. Runciman was a passenger for Wellington by the express yesterday. At yesterday’s meeting of the Otago Land Beard the re-annointment of Mr T. A. Munro as a member of the board was announced, and the information welcomed by his colleagues on the board. The Electric Power Board has (says an Ashburton Press Association message) appointed Mr James W. Tirniin, of Dunedin, its secretary out of 67 applicants. Mr Timlin has been 22 years with the Dunedin Corporation. Ho is now accountant in the electric light and nower department. Lord Leverhulme, who some years ago visited New Zealand and some of the South Pacific Islands in which ho is interested, is (reports our Wellington correspondent) likely to pay another visit to the dominion soon. He is now in his seventy-third year. St Paul’s Church. Oamarn. has given a call to the Rev. Ivo E. Bertram, M.A. of St. Peter's, Sydney (says a Press Associtaion message). Mr Bertram, who is a New Zealander, took his degree at the Otago University and was trained in the Theolgical Hall, Dunedin. Three Indians—officers of the Salvation Army —are on a visit to New Zealand and are now in Wellington (telegraphs our correspondent) In company with a local officer of the Salvation Army, they were yesterday shown over the parliamentary and other public institutions in the city. A cablegram from London states that. Lord Leverhulme has sailed in the Majestic on a visit lo his undertakings in America, New Zealand, and Australia. Lady Forbcs-Robertson. who is well known to many New Zealand soldiers as the organiser of popular Saturday night entertainments for the “diggers” at the London Shakespeare Hut during the war. is at present in Melbourne, and will shortly pay a visit to Dunedin. Among the recent arrivals in the dominion on holiday bent is Mr A. K. Wilson, managing director of Spear and Jackson (Lid.), a well-known Sheffield firm. Mr Wilson is a keen' salmon and trout fisher (says our Wellington correspondent) and he has brought- bis rods with him in the hope of getting some angling during his stay in New Zealand, He left lasq night for <'brist- bure'> on.l will go ns far south as Dunedin, afterwards returning to the North Island for the rainbow trout fishing in the Taupe district.
