GREEK KING'S SAFETY
PROTECTION OT BRITAIN. HINT GIVEN TO ATHENS. LONDON. November 1. The precarious position of King George of Greece is revealed by an_ official announcement that ho has decided not to eo to Belgrade for the christening of the baby Prince, his nephew. The fact is that the King is a prisoner. The rovolutionarv Government forbade the Belgrade trip, 'fearing that if the King left the country he would never return. Considerable anxiety is felt in Rovahst circles as to what may be the fate of the King Although he is not confined to nis palace in Athens he is under constant surveillance. and his movements are restricted. Only the King’s life and that of his brother. Prince Paul, stand between M. Venizelos and dictatorship. The Greek revolutionary Government has been officially informed, says the Dsilv News, that Britain would view -with great uneasiness any revolutionary movement resulting in the overthrow of the dynasty. Britain also states that she would be loth to believe the Greek Government capable of taking such a step, which would he likely to compromise so seriously the country’s future. It is understood that the Greek Government asked Britain to disclose her views of the political situation
