PIPING AND DANCING.
Hi6 annual general, meeting of the Otago Centro of the Piping and planting Associalion of Mew Zealand, held in the club rooms, Moray place, on Wednesday night, ■was attended by 56 members, Mr 1. W. . King, president, being in the chair. 'lhe annual report showed steady progress on the part ot the centre, with a credit balance of £45 4s 4d on the year’s working. Mr W. 11. Mackenzie was elected president unopposed. The other positions were Idled as follows:—Vice-presidents—Messrs K. Cameron. T. W. King, Hugh Paterson, Alex, it egg, ]■'. IV. Clayton, Thos. Gilchrist, Geo. Gordon (Mosgiel), J. T. N. Grant (Queenstown), Rodk. MacKenzie, and Colin M‘K.enzie; General Committee— Messrs Geo. Anderson, J. A. liudge, A. A. Campbell, Peter Duff, ffm, Fraser, John Gold (Halclutha), I). D. Graham, H. S. Hungerford, Alex. Mao Kay, Colin M’Kenzre, jnn., .Senior-sergeant Malhieson, Adam Soott, Alex. Steel, Wm. Sutherland, and James Yeung; pipers—Messrs Robert Mnrns, Donald Mac Kay. and Angus M'Millan; secretary, Mr Robert Wattersori; assistant secretary, Mr I’. W. Clayton ; treasurer, Mr ft. Cameron; auditor, Mr Lachlan M’Lean, Several suggestions were adopted for the improvemept of the extensive piping and dancing competitions in June, including a recommendation that all dancers in sword dntK-e and scan trnibhais shall compete singly, the same rule lo be followed also m all other dances as much as possible. At a committee meeting at the close of the annual meeting the request of the Gtago Caledonian Society wag complied ■with for suggestions for a nrogramme of dancing events for the society’s December sports. Four members resigned fiom the Otago Centre of the Pining and Dancing Association since the annual meeting last year and 23 new members have been elected during the last few weeks.
