TWO BROTHERS SENTENCED THREE YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT. <Pk« United Prrsr Association.) AUCKLAND. November 10. Two brothers. Harry White'Fret-well and Thomas Malcolm Fretwell. were each sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for assaulting a neighbour, (jlnnie Drake, a farmer, of Warcnga. Mr Justice Stringer said it was almost a miracle that they did not actually kill the man. They were tortunato that they were not charged with murder, It was a premeditated, cowardly, and brutal assault., 'they had battered (he man into insensibility, and then dumped him in his cart and left him to go home the best way be could. George M‘Donald, who obtained money by false pretences, was sentenced to two year’s imprisonment Alfred Alexander Berry, for indecently assaulting a male, was sentenced to one years’ imprisonment. Horace Davis, for stealing a gearbox from a motor car, received a similar sentence.
