Tbo Alotropolitan trotting meeting was concluded in fine weather, -which, however, turned cold towards the latter part of the afternoon. There was a very largo attendance. and the track was in srood order. Don AA’ild won comfortably, after taking charge early, m the Christchurch Handicap. ’The valuable race for straight-out trotters proved the best of good things for Native King. A smash-up occurred in the last race, in which Vilo fell and brought down Tatsy Dillon, and Albert Cling went clean over them. Trix Pointer, Logan Chief, and Happy Voyage, who were running behind, managed to avoid trouble but lost ground in doing so. It appeared ns if the mishap cost Tiogan Chief a good chance of -winning. During the day £77,172 10s went through tho totalisntor, ns against £85,051 on the final day of last year's meeting. The total for tho meeting was £210,436, or £11,507 less than Jast year. This order .was maintained all through the first mile, at tho end of which Don Wild was going comfortably in front, and he held his position to the finish. ' CHRIST’CHURCH, November 8. There was a fairly large attendance at the annual sale oi yearungs. The top price was made by tuo Maman colt who is a well-jjrovvu brother to the Cypher. He was knocked down at 1350gns, but the bid was repudiated and also another said to be made at ISOOgns. Finally he dropped to 1200gus, this figure being claimed, by the auctioneer as Mr G. D. Greenwood’s bid. This was disputed by Mr R. J. Mason who had hid lOOOgns. After some justifi. able quibbling the colt became the property of Air Mason.
