News from America to tho 4th September has been received et Auckland via San Francisco. 'ihe siege of Charleston was slit' being- actively prosecuted without any very decisive result. Fort Sumter hail been almost entirely destroyed by the furious fire from the Federal batteries and ships, but it was still in possession of the Confederates. RESIGNATION OF THE DOMETT MINISTRY. (From Our Special Reporter.) Auckland. October 28th. The Wnnga Wonga sails for Taranaki onrl Wellington this evening, and she will not convey from here any news of a moro exciting- character than that the Ministry of which Mr Domett was the head has placer! their resignation in the hands of Sir George Groy, and that, they aro simply awaitinjr the announcement that their successor has been appointed before themselves passing- into the "'cold shade of opposition.' - . .
