M. VOROWSKY'S MURDER.
TRIAL OF CONRADI CONTINUED. DRAMATIC COURT SCENE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrig it LONDON, November 8. (Received Nov. 8, at 8 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph’s Lausanne correspondent says that the trial of Conradi was continued. Miss Conradi, cousin of the prisoner, described how her father was taken from his bed at midnight by the Bolshevists, and was afterwards shot. All their belongings were taken away. She gave a vivid picture of life in Petrograd with its forced labour and the reduction of the population by two-thirds owing to the general distress. Miss Conradi, at the close .of her evidence, went to the dock and embraced the prisoner.—A. and iN.Z. Cable. M. Yorowsky was shot while at dinner at the Hotel Cecil, Lausanne, during the Near East Conference. A long typewritten document headed: “My Confession,” was found on Conradi. It gave as reasons for the assassination the torture and murder by the Bolshevists of Conradi’s father, uncle, and other relatives, and his desire to rid the world of a Bolshevist. It declared that he intended to assassinate M. Tchitcherin at the Jast Lausanne Conference, but he did not find an opportunity. Then he decided to kill M. Yorowsky, and for this purpose was obliged to follow him from Italy. A Russian officer, writing in the Daily Mail, said: “I happen to be very well acquainted and closely connected with Morris Conradi, who is 28, of very smart appearance and good looks, and popular with all who know him. He was a captain in the Russian Imperial and Voluntary Army. His father and uncle, who were born in Russia, owned, one of the biggest chocolate factories in the Narvskaya suburb of Petrograd. When the Bolshevists came into power they selected his father and uncle as victims of their Red Terror solely on the grounds of ,their oeing factory owners.” >
