NEW SEASON’S BUTTER.
THE LONDON. MARKET. • PROSPECTS CONSIDERED GOOD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, November 6. Tho prospects of the new season’s butter on tho Loudon mar Ice t are being keenly discussed by those interested in the dairying industry. The first of the season’s output has reached England by t-hei Westmoreland, and is now being sold at 186 s to 190 s per cwt. , Discussing ; tlie butter position, an expert expressed the opinion that the prospects of the market for the next few months were considered good. The London prices at present, ho said, were about 20s per cwt lower than those for tho corresponding period of last year. This season/ however, the first arrivals in London were about a month ahead of last year’s butter, sliipped by the Westmoreland, which is now being marketed. It would include a fair proportion of last season’s make. The Oorinthic would be the first vessel to arrive in London with a substantial quantity of tho now season’s butter. This should be marketed within tho next few days, and it would be interesting to note how it was received on tho market. Assuming that the conditions this year were not radically altered, added the expert, it was quite likely that at least all the early season’s bulter would reach,-a strong market, and' Mould realise quite good prices. If a favourable market were maintained till the end of, February the New Zealand dairy farmers should obtain returns at least equal to those of last season.
