BALCLUTHA PIPE BAND.
ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. Very successful competitions were held by the Balclutha Pipe Band in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Friday, the entries totalling 160 from 44 competitors extending from Timaru to Gore, and including a number from Dunedin. Mr G. Munro, of Dunedin, made a very competent judge In the piping, Mr L. Lamont, of NorthEast Valley, secured' Begg and Co.’s handsome medal for most points in the open piping, gaining a first and two seconds, while the veteran Angus M’Millan ran him close with a first, a second, and a third, Pipe-major E. In the evening a very successful Scotch concert was given, the chief performers being Mrs Morison M’Donald, Mr and Miss Eagar, and Mr Waterson, all of Dunedin.
