TO THE EPITO*. Sip, --May I issue a word of warning to those’ who reside within 20 miles of Dunedin, in reference to the water supply for the coming summer months? In m.y based on the strictest calculations, the natural water supply will probably be ''H'irst 0 of all, I estimate the probable rainfall at Otago Peninsula as 3 i inches, and Bank's Peninsula as about 39 inches. These are the values given in our physiographical text-books. Working the calculations out by mathematical analysis, on the lines suggested by R- O. K. Lempfert, superintendent of the Forecast Division of the Meteorological Office, and on the basis also of the abnormal meteorological factors so painfully in evidence this year. I estimate the rainfall tor November as 2.43 inches. I have calculated the December rainfall also, but we will sec how the above forecast turns aid. It will probably be very near the truth.— l am, etc., J. F. Morris. Mosgiel Junction, November 5.
