MAORI PRISONER’S DEATH.

SEQUEL TO ATTEMPTED MURDER. lIAEATA DIES IN HOSPITAL. (Pen United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 3. Pakira Haeata. the young Te Or© Ore Maori, who was sentenced to five years imprisonment at the March sessions at Masterlou for attempted murder at Blnckrock Station. Woirarapa, died in the Wellington Hospital. The deceased, during the affray, received a charge from a shot gun in the arm, and this had produced blood poisoning. Haeata was m hospital until his trial at Masterton, and has been there ever since he left for Wellington after being sentenced The arm was amputated on Thursday, but Haeata collapsed after the operation, and died. Haeata waylaid on the roadside and wounded a half-caste named James Kenrick. At the hearing it was given m evidence that Kenrick was living with Haeata a wife, who, Kenrick said, was forced on his hands by accused.
