A new rush is reported in the Tuapeka District. The locality is situated on the Waipori road, eight miles from Waitahuna. Large numbers of miners left Tuapeka yesterday for the spot. The successful candidate for the office ol Clerk to the Dunedin Town Board, judging by the testimonials in his favour read at yesterday’s special meeting, is in every re spent .a highly competent officer. He has been thrice Mayor of Adelaide, South Aus tralia, where he seems to have enjoyed great popularity amongst all classes of citizens. . . . Sir Lazaar’s letters of recommendation refer also to the talent displayed by that gentleman in framing the revised Municipal Act of Adelaide. . . About 470 horses have been landed at Port Chalmers within the laft two days; that number including the stud of the Californian Circus Company, conveyed hither from Wellington by the Plcehe. . .
