WIRELESS FOR CHINA

THE AMERICAN CONTRACT. STRONG JAPANESE PROTEST. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyn«a» TOKIO, November 3. (Received Nov. 5, at 0.20 a.m.) _ The dispute between Japan and the United States concerning the establishment of higher-powered wireless plants in China has been renewed. Japan to-day repeated her protest to China against t'ie erection of five stations by an American firm, stating that, a previous monopoly had been granted to a Japanese firm The Foreign Office stated that this action was taken with the greatest reluctance at a moment when the Japanese people were showing gratitude to America for the great munificence of her aid in connection with the earthquake, but the step was deemed necessary to safeguard Japanese interests which had already expended large sums of money on a basis of the Chinese assurances. Japan will agree to a revocation of the monopoly if all the countries concerned undertake a co-operative policy. — A. and N.Z. Cable.
