A pack of. stoats attacked a man as he was walking by the side ot' a stream near Surbiton. They crowded round him, squeak in'g shrilly, and made repeated dashes at his lees, up which they attepted to climb, evidently to attack hia throat. He beat them ot? with difficulty, but they followed him for half a. mile. Such attacks by stoats are not uncommon, particularly when a mother and her young are disturbed while hunting The devotion of three French nurses has caused a considerable amount ot comment in French circles. Three patients in the Beau iou Hospital were, suffering acutely, and blood transfusion was suggested as a means of mitigating their suffering. The throe nurses voluntarily offered to give a. quantity of their blood to the patients, and as a result the sick persons were greatly benefited. Children who live on canal barges in England are supposed to attend the school in whatever district the barge stops, . They might thus go' to a different school every day.
