WAR CEMETERIES IN FRANCE
Mr R. Soulsby, of Otekaike, returned to New Zealand by the last trip of the R.jvl.S. Niagara from the Mother Country and the Continent. In the course of a visit to the battlefields of France, Mr Soulsby inspected a war cemetery at Rinqualcourt, close to Bertaincourt, in which were the graves of several soldiers in the Ist Otago Regiment. He was greatly impressed with the care and attention that are bestowed on these cemeteries, which are laid out with walks and flower-beds such as might be found in private grounds. While there is a profusion of flowers at the head of each grave. He has no doubt that the relatives and friends of the soldiers who sleep, in these countries will be gratified to know that the burial-places: are so thoughtfully looked after. The . New Zealand soldiers interred in this particular cemetery, as shown by the names on the white crosses, are:—63,198 Private N. Neil, 62472 Private F. F. Yeates, 64708 Private C. H.
