CITY POLICE COURT.
Thursday, October 25. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Drunkenness. — A first, offender, who had hecn previously remanded for medical treatmenl, was lined £os, in default 24 hours imprisonment.— James Wilson, a statutory first offender, was convicted and ordered to pay £?. 2s medical expenses, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Alleged Forgery.—A young man, 27 years of age, appeared to answer a charge of maj<ing a talse document purporting to be a medical prescription made by Dr Kngene J. O’Neill, for the supply of heroin (a drugallied t'i niorphi!i), Avitli intuit t hat it should be acted upon ns if it were genuine. Chief Detective Lewis said that the accused, who was not in a fit condition to appear, was suffering from the effects of the ding habit. He had been ordered to (lie Hospital by the doctor. In view of the fact that, he was not represented by counsel, and that nothing was known concerning the accused, the Chief Detective suggested to the Magistrate that his name be not published in the meantime. - Accused was remanded for seven days, and an order was made for his name to be suppressed.
