FORESTERS
A number of the officers and members of Court Little John proceeded to Oamaru last Saturday for the purpose of paying its annual visit to Courts Pride of Oamaru and Victoria. On arrival they were conducted to their general billets by D.W. Bro. Doran and Secretary Bro. Turyey. In the evening a meeting of the combined Oamaru courts was held. C.R. Bro. L. Hitch, who presided, extended a hearty welcome to the visitors. He referred to the good result of such an interchange of visits, and he trusted that the visitors would have a pleasant time during their stay in Oamaru. In responding to the toast of visitors, G.D.C.R, Bro. Wilson congratulated Court Pride of Oamaru on its progress, and said it was certain that 'the present year would be a record one in the united Otago district. So far as increase of membership and finances were concerned. He urged all present to take a greater interest in the affairs of the order, especially in connection with matters which are considered at the district meetings. Delegates should carefully consider the business paper and attend such meetings prepared to enter into the discussions on tho various matters pertaining to the welfare of tho lodge. He sincerely thanked the. members of Courts Pride of Oamaru and Victoria for the splendid reception accorded the visitors. . .. , ~ D.W. Bro. Doran, in responding to the toast of the District Executive, expressed bis pleasure at the visit of members from Court Little John, and referred to the business being transacted by the executive. He agreed with the remarks of Bro. Wilson regarding district meetings, and declared that 100 many delegates looked upon those meetings as a picnic, and consequently paid little attention to actual business. He appreciated the honour that had been conferred upon him by his election as a district officer, and would at all times do his utmost for the advancement of the order. An enjoyable social evening was subsequently held, harmony being contributed by Misses Henderson (2), Bro. A. M‘Mahan, and others. The proceedings closed with the singing of “Auld Lane Syne.” On Sunday the visitors were taken m motors to Glenavy. a distance of 18 miles, and returned to Dunedin on the following day.
