OLYMPIC GAMES. DOMINION QUEEN ELECTION At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Olympic Gaines Association in Wellington it was decided to launch a dominion queen election for the purpose of raising funds to despatch a representative team to the next Olympic Games. The election will coyer the whole of the dominion. The winning candidate queen of the province securing the greatest aggregate votes will be rewarded with a, trip to the Empire Exhibition. The shooting for the King’s Prize has concluded in unfavourable weather, which was showery, with a bad light and a breeze cf fishtail character. The King’s Prize resulted : Watson (Victoria), 373 1 M’Naughton (Victoria), 373 2 Pearce (Victoria), 372 3 Watson, the winner of the King's Prize, is 31 years of age. He cam© second in the Nursery Competition in Victoria in 1920 amongst over 600 competitors. His lowest score in the recent King’s shoot was 43. A. Neilson (Napier) was fifth in the King’s Match with a score of 370, and won £lO. He also won £3 in the Lemaitre Match with a score of 139. F. James (Napier) won £2 in the King's Match with 354, and £1 in the Lemaitre Match with 182. Harley Donald (Wairarapn), shooting consistently throughout, registered three bulls in succession at 500 yards, but missed the fourth ehot, putting him out of court, hia aggregate being 321. Nielson made the fine score of 49 at the 900 yards range. The New Zealanders spent an enjoyable week at Anzac Range, which is isolated in virgin country several miles outside Liverpool. The manager and men give glowing praise to the hospitality accorded them, remarking that they are unable to speak too highly of their treatment. A TRIANGULAR MATCH. The 15-rounds nrcfessional boxing contest on Saturday night in the Town Hall between Tommy Fairhall (Australia) 9.13 and Eugene Volaire (France) 10.2 went the full distance, Fairhall gaining Referee Page’s dec sion after an exhibition of all-round superiority throughout the contest. He sent v olaire to the canvas in the third round for the count of nine, and immediately floored him again when he rose, but the gong saved the Frenchman from further trouble. The pace was fast in the opening rounds, but slackened later. Volaire landed a heavy blow in the final round, damaging Fairhall’s iaw. The referee’s decision in Fairhall’s favour was popularly received. Two six-round amateur bouts were staged. Cotter (Runanga) outpointed Cleary (Taranaki), and Mettrick (Blackball) outpointed Russ (Camerons) after willing contests. PROFESSIONAL FEATHER-WEIGHT. iPfiR United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 22. Mike Flynn defeated Bert Facoory on points _ for the professional feather-weight championship of New Zealand and a purse of £IOO. The bout went the full 16 rounds, and was not a very good contest, Flynn being too good for his opponent.
