POLITICS IN MALTA

A NEW PRIME MINISTER. Pr»J» Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MALTA, October 19. The new Ministry is practically identical with the old, except for the departure of Mr J. Howard, whoso post is taken ever by Mr Francesco Bughagior.—Reuter. A political crisis occurred in Malta last week. It was stated that it was undoubtedly attributable to a recent speech of Mr Howard (the . Prime Minister) at Rome, in which ho is alleged to have made remarks conveying the impression of proItalian sentiments and to have urged the learning of Italian by Maltese as it would be of great use in the near future. Between 10,000 and 12,000 residents of Malta attended a demonstration of loyalty to the British flag, and unanimously passed a resolution protesting against the Rome speech and re-affirming their loyalty to the Crown.
