Mr Malcolm Kobilliard, of the Ashburton branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has been notified of his transfer on promotion to Dunedin.
Mr A. T. Markman, secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, arrived in Dunedin by the Moeraki yesterday morning. Mr A. A. Burns, late railway stationmaster at Caversharn and Middleman'll, has been promoted to..the office of chief clerk in Timaru. Private advice has been received announcing the death in the north on Thursday of Mr Samuel Bannister, who was in business as a chemist for many years in this city.
The Bev. S. Morris, after three months* leave of absence on account of his health, has returned to Dunedin, and will resume his duties in charge of the North-East Valley Baptist Church to-morrow. Mr Geo. A. Green (dominion secretary of the New Zealand Nurserymen’s Association), arrived in Dunedin lust evening from Invercargill. He will attend the annual meeting of the Otago Nurserymen's Council on Monday evening.
Mr A. Harvey and Mr and Mrs 11. Sutherland, recently of Wain's Hotel, left by the Moeraki last night for Melbourne. They purpose residing in Australia for two or three mouths, and will probably settle in Christchurch when they return to the dominion.
The death took place suddenly on Wednesday of Mr George O'Kee, a resident of Crown Terrace (reports our Queenstown correspondent). The deceased was 69 years of age and a native of Grogan, County Antrim, Ireland, lie came .to the district about 50 years ago, and had been fanning on the terrace ever since. Ho leaves a widow and a family of two. A brother resides at Balclutha. The funeral will take place to-day.
