“Subscriber.’’—Broom is a noxious weed, but the schedule of the Act requires to he adopted by the local authority before the measure becomes operative in the district ol that authority and before any action can be taken by it, under the Act. The schedule including broom has not been adopted by the Waihemo County Council. It frequently happens that the terms of leases require the lessees to destroy noxious weeds in the property affected. H.M.—Shell lime will give results equally as good as carbonate, but it would be as well to apply it to the soil immediately after ploughing, and work it into the soil thoroughly so as to allow it to act as much as possible before seeding lucerne. “Ratepayer."—There is no precise formula by which the amount chargeable for the rent of a house may be determined. The amount has no necessary relation to the amount of the rates.
